CIRIMAT

CIRIMAT

Interuniversity Center for Materials Researchand Engineering

To develop interdisciplinary research into all kinds of materials (metals and alloys, ceramics, polymers, composites) from their design to their actual use.

Research topics encompass:
- the reactivity of surfaces, interfaces and high surface/volume systems
- the dynamics of heterogeneous systems.

These topics involving gas-solid, liquid-solid and solid-solid reactions include modeling research (oxidation, crystal growth, etc), development (nanosized powders, nanotubes, thin films, composite coatings, ceramics, etc) and the analysis of chemical, physical, mechanical, even biological properties.

The basic research goals of CIRIMAT include the synthesis and/or implementation of novel materials with specific properties, a better understanding of the interfaces in the development, transformation and use of the materials, the structure/properties connections (magnetic, thermal, mechanical, biological, reactivity, etc) and the enhancement of their performances (durability, environment impact, mechanics-chemistry coupling, bioactivity, resorbability).

We would like to thank the CIRIMAT for having financed the cellular materials we needed for our project and for allowding us to use their premises.

We especially thank our tutor Mrs. Poquillon for her help and for letting us use devices such as the SEM or compression machine.
